Our sales person, Gerald Lawhon, was great to work with and if I were just rating our experience with him it would be 5 stars. However, Gerald has been basically the only positive light in our carpet experience with Flooring Expo by Carpet King. We got carpet installed with Carpet King about 4 years ago in a bedroom and had a good experience. We wanted to get the same carpet installed in the bedroom/office across the hall this summer and decided the easiest route was to go through Carpet King again. The day our carpet was supposed to installed we were supposed to get a call between 7-9 confirming the installation time. I waited until 10:30 without hearing from them before calling Gerald. After some digging he was able to find out the install team had called in sick. We were rescheduled for the next available day, which was a Monday when the original carpet was to be installed on a Thursday. This was very inconvenient as the room is my husband's office, where he works from home and we had taken the whole room apart for the install, but we made it work for the two business days. When the carpet installers arrived Monday we discovered that the wrong size carpet had been ordered and there wasn't enough carpet to finish the job. Thankfully, there was enough to do the room, but not to finish the closet so more had to be ordered. This whole experience has been far less than ideal. We will see how long the additional carpet takes to come in for the closet and if there are more hiccups to come.

This is being written by her son on behalf of my mom. They are good when you want to buy carpet but terrible on the service side of their business. My elderly mother bought carpet 5 years ago. Now the carpet has been buckling and Carpet King is only willing to stretch the carpet again instead of replacing the defective carpet. My mother lives alone so this carpet should have lasted more than 5 years. it just feels like they are taking advantage of the elderly with this poor customer service. My mother has been going back and forth with them for a month with no satisfactory resolution. They provide lip service on the phone when they say "we want to make this right." They have no interest in making it right, they only want to pacify my mom to frustrate her to the point of dropping the issue. They are all about the sale - forget about the service. We are having the faulty carpet replaced by Home Depot who stands behind their products and service. Response to Carpet King - We have been working with your service department or LACK of service department - for over a month without a satisfactory response. It feels like the longer they drag this process out the more likely we will drop the issue. Well Carpet King you get your wish because we are going to Home Depot because we will not spend $1 with you. After 5 years you are only offering a stipend for a 10 year warranted carpet. Anyone reading this should spend their hard earned money elsewhere. By from Carpet King at your own risk.
Mr. James Harris helped me to choose a durable, affordable, and aesthetically pleasing carpet for my basement in my new home. Not only is the carpet the perfect color, texture, and thickness, installation was optimal. I was able to have the carpet installed at a time that worked best in my schedule, in a timely fashion, with professional and courteous installers. The installers did a perfectly professional job-they left no signs they were ever there! My experience left nothing to be desired by Mr. Harris and Carpet King-Flooring Expo. I will continue to utilize Carpet King-Flooring Expo as my first choice and highly recommend them to all I encounter with flooring needs. A number of my friends and family have also utilized Mr. Harris's expertise and experience, they have all been thoroughly satisfied.

Outstanding Service! Having numerous rental properties, I buy alot of flooring. I met Jim many years back at the St. Louis Park store and followed him to the Maple Grove store. I always get what I need, am given numerous options with pro/cons (price/quality etc). Extremely fast service and ALWAYS follow through by Jim! Jim makes my life easier and my properties look great.I have no doubts when Jim handles my flooring needs :)

Dealing with Carpet King Shop at Home has been terrible. Sales rep was Justin Nordin. Received no itemized purchase agreement. Spoke to someone twice asking for this over a 2 week span and was told "I will ask my supervisor" Then "he is in a meeting" then in the same conversation "he is out of the office". Still no itemized purchase agreement. Carpet King store cannot help. I am left hoping the install is good. I am left with no assistance. Terrible customer service!

Worse install experience ever. We have a 1800 square foot basement and they did not even use a power carpet stretcher. They only used a knee kicker! Seams were horrible. Had to have them come back and redo several of them the day after initial install. Now a few seams are coming apart and they will not warranty them, 3 years later. No lifetime install guarantee here. Never again will I purchase from them. Do yourself a favor and go through a small local carpet dealer instead.

I had a need for both carpet and laminate flooring and needed it quickly. Knowing about the quick turnaround I agreed to pay a higher price. My carpet was installed timely but the laminate was NOT. A day after my installation was to occur I called. They said they didn't know what was going on. I asked for my salesperson to call me first thing Monday. They did not call, so I did. Then and only then, i was informed my order was never placed. It would be another 10 days as they just placed the order. I understand things happen, but I expected financial compensation for this mistake. At no point had anyone apologized. I was simply told mistakes happen. I work in the construction industry and mistakes do happen. Everytime they do, we make up for it in kindness and by taking a financial hit. The flooring took another 10 days to come in and they offered me $100 off for my inconvenience. Considering I needed to extend the rental of my storage pod, reschedule my painting touchups, and movers to put my furniture back in place, and that I paid a higher price for the quicker turn around, I felt this was inadequate. But my only option was to cancel and search for another floor, or to install with their lousy discount for my inconvenience. When they came to install, they tried to hit me up with change orders for the laminate. The nerve of this company. They came to my home and looked at the job before quoting it. Not my problem. I refused to pay any additional monies and vowed to let others know of my terrible customer service. Future buyers beware!

Very poor experience. We were told repeatedly “7 to 10 days” for delivery until we ordered and paid half down. As soon as they had that payment the delivery date was moved out two weeks. The installer had too much of the transition pieces and not enough quarter round. I had to drive out to the store to return the extra product and then I still had to call repeatedly to get a credit. The installer ensured me he would be back to put in the last eight feet of quarter round. Many phone calls later I still don’t have it and I’m told it will cost another $400 on top of the more than $2000 already paid. The store staff seem to be pleasant people but they can’t be believed.
WTF? I have no idea where this even is...

Gerald was about as helpful as you could ask for. He walked us through everything, answered all our questions, and got our whole project done in one week. The installers were on-time, professional, and did a great job. Was truly an easy and seamless process.

They did offer to wait on install until the vents were in so I wouldn’t have holes in the floor but I chose not to wait. It will be 2 full months from order until it is completely finished.

We shopped all around town for new carpet. The big box stores and several chains. Carpet King provided great customer service and very competitive pricing. The installation team was very professional and our new carpet looks great. I highly recommend visiting Carpet King for any of your flooring needs.
Don’t believe them when they say it takes 11 days from purchase to install. It took 2 1/2 weeks for my flooring to show up and then the only installation times they had were 1 1/2 days later (not enough time to get my whole downstairs cleared out) or wait almost 2 weeks. Flooring should go in tomorrow 5 weeks after I purchased it partially due to floor leveling.

We bought carpet for our entire house after looking around town for other options. Gerald was very knowledgeable and helpful, got great pricing etc.. our carpet did take longer to arrive than originally promised, ((by 10 days or so), and there was an issue with getting it scheduled because of logistics on my end (moving furniture, piano, pool table). Like some of the other reviewers mentioned, I had to call them to follow up, but I don’t think that is beyond expectations when you are anxious to get work done.The 4 star review is based mostly on the installers—I have NEVER seen harder workers. Juan and Pablo were at my home for 14 hours the first day and 12 hours the next. They were polite, clean and worked nonstop (I don’t even thing they really took a break for lunch or dinner—just ate as they worked). Before they left they had vacuumed all the rooms and stairs, swept the hard floors of all the debris and we did a walk through. Carpet looks great. I would recommend!

Went in and looked at samples before finishing the addition. Asked them to call me back with an estimate. And if they could install in 3 to 4 weeks. They said they would call. Never did went else where.
